Anno Domini MMX

Days have begun to lengthen slightly, 20 + C + B + M + 10 is inscribed in chalk above the front door of my apartment, and those obligatory New Year's resolutions have been made.  January is slipping away as I type.

Sometimes at night when I can't sleep, my mind wanders into unfinished business.  Last month, restless due to an uncomfortably bright streetlight and the fact I was not my own bed, I had such one such night.  I realized I don't follow through on many things I say I plan on doing.  And I decided that should change.

So for the year 2010, I have set four major goals--two "natural," two "supernatural"--to accomplish.  These are things I've said I want to do but have yet to make much effort toward completion.
  • Learn the play the fiddle
  • Lose 30 pounds to be in shape to hike Longs Peak
  • Read the entire Bible
  • Become a saint
The first three are rather straightforward; perhaps the last seems ridiculous or unattainable.  I intend to elaborate on these as we move along.  For now I share them with you now for accountability.

Of course there are other minor things I'd like to do that don't rise to the level of this list (which at the moment I hazard to call a "bucket list") and I may or may not accomplish those things this year.  I just pray the Lord leaves me here long enough to learn to smoke a pipe.
